Certificate in Hospitality Global Overview
Course Overview
The Certificate in Hospitality Global Overview is a short 3 to 6-month LSHRM foundation route inside the Resort and Business Management department. It gives applicants a first, structured view of how international hotel groups, resort brands, franchise models and management companies are organised, and how the UK market sits inside them. It is aligned with sector references from UKHospitality and the Tourism Society.
By graduation you will be able to describe the main global hotel brand families, the difference between owner, operator and franchisor, and how international inbound tourism reaches London and UK resort destinations.
Tutor support is provided by practising hospitality tutors who moderate weekly discussions, review portfolio submissions and give individual feedback. Distance and online cohorts have identical tutor access to on-campus students.
Applicants finish the Certificate with a short exit interview and a clear, written recommendation for the next LSHRM step in their pathway. Many use their exit interview to plan a Diploma application inside the same LSHRM department, giving them a continuous 12 to 18-month study record from Certificate through to first supervisory qualification.

Applicants also gain a working familiarity with the day-to-day language of a modern UK hotel or resort. That means shift briefings, room-status boards, guest-arrival lists and the shorthand used in housekeeping and reception radios. Employers repeatedly tell LSHRM that this working vocabulary is what separates a strong entry-level applicant from one who simply lists a Certificate on a CV, and the programme is written with that employer feedback in mind.
