Diploma in Microeconomics
Course Overview
The Diploma in Microeconomics is a UK Level 4 practitioner-foundation qualification running 9 to 12 months. It teaches microeconomic reasoning at the depth needed by working policy officers, regulator analysts and industry economists: consumer theory, firm behaviour, market structure, welfare and market failure. The syllabus is aligned with Royal Economic Society reasoning benchmarks and Government Economic Service standards for entry-level microeconomic writing.
By graduation you will have produced short microeconomic briefs on live policy questions, built partial-equilibrium diagrams, prepared a regulatory-style market note, and defended your reasoning in a seminar under adversarial questioning. The Diploma articulates directly into the LSLPE Higher Diploma in Microeconomics and the Advanced Diploma in Fiscal Policy.
