Course Overview
The Higher Diploma in Legal Studies is a UK Level 5 qualification running 15 to 18 months. It is a broad, applied grounding in English law: contract, tort, criminal law, public law, land, equity and trusts, EU-retained law, and human rights. The syllabus is aligned with CILEX practitioner competencies and the SRA SQE1 subject expectations, and provides articulation into an LSLPE LLB top-up or an appropriate UK Bachelor's-level route.
By graduation you will have argued moots on contract, tort and public-law questions, drafted a case theory from a client file, prepared advocacy submissions, and produced a capstone piece analysing an English appellate decision. The Higher Diploma is a strong foundation for SQE, Bar Practice Course and CILEX practitioner routes and does not itself confer a right to practise as a solicitor or barrister.
