LLB in Banking and Finance Law

Course Overview

The LLB in Banking and Finance Law is a three-year UK Level 6 honours degree with part-time and accelerated routes, calibrated to the applied banking, capital-markets and derivatives-law practice that defines the City of London. Foundational law modules sit alongside a banking-and-finance specialism, and the degree includes a year-two placement in a City firm, an in-house team at a bank, a regulator or a specialist chambers.

By graduation you will be reading facility agreements, drafting security documents, running mock ISDA negotiations, and defending an original dissertation on a banking or finance-law question. The degree is a strong foundation for later SQE preparation and pupillage routes but is not itself a route to solicitor or barrister qualification.

Entry Requirements

• A-levels (or equivalent) at BBB or above, OR a UK Access to HE Diploma with 45 credits at Level 3.
• GCSE English at grade 4/C and Mathematics at grade 4/C (or equivalent).
• IELTS 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0) for non-native English speakers.
• Two academic references and a personal statement setting out your interest in banking and finance law.
