Course Overview
The Diploma in Political Theory is a UK Level 4 practitioner-foundation qualification running 9 to 12 months. It gives working policy staff, campaigners and analysts a systematic grounding in classical and contemporary political theory: justice, liberty, equality, democracy, sovereignty, representation, rights and legitimacy. The syllabus is aligned with Political Studies Association benchmarks and draws on the analytical traditions of Oxford and Cambridge political thought.
By graduation you will have written a set of argumentative essays defending contested positions, produced a policy-facing memo grounded in political-theoretical reasoning, and defended your argument in a seminar under structured questioning. Entry Requirements
- A Level 3 qualification (A-levels, BTEC, Access to HE) or equivalent, or a relevant Certificate at LSLPE.
- GCSE English at grade 4/C and Mathematics at grade 4/C or equivalent.
- IELTS 5.5 overall (no band below 5.5) for non-native English speakers, or equivalent.
