Diploma in Public Law
Course Overview
The Diploma in Public Law is a UK Level 4 practitioner-foundation qualification running 9 to 12 months. It teaches the constitutional and administrative-law framework of the United Kingdom: Parliamentary sovereignty, separation of powers, the royal prerogative, statutory interpretation, judicial review and human rights. The syllabus is aligned with SRA SQE1 public-law expectations, BSB Bar Course specification and CILEX practitioner competencies.
By graduation you will have drafted a pre-action protocol letter for judicial review, produced grounds of challenge on a live-standard administrative decision, prepared a short statutory-interpretation memo and defended a public-law argument in a moot. The Diploma is a strong foundation for SQE and Bar routes and does not itself confer a right to practise.

Entry Requirements
- A Level 3 qualification (A-levels, BTEC, Access to HE) or equivalent, or a relevant Certificate at LSLPE.
- GCSE English at grade 4/C and Mathematics at grade 4/C or equivalent.
- IELTS 5.5 overall (no band below 5.5) for non-native English speakers, or equivalent.
- A personal statement outlining your progression aims.
- Applicants with paralegal, policy or campaigning experience are encouraged to reference it at application.
